Classic Chicken Biryani and Cool Raita
A flavorful serving of homemade chicken biryani garnished with mint, cilantro, and fried onions, paired with creamy cool raita.
Chicken Biryani Ingredient’s :
For the Chicken Biryani :
2 Tsp ghee or oil
1 large onion thinly slice
1 kg chicken cut into piece’s
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 Cup plain yogurt
2 Tsp red chili powder
1 Tsp turmeric powder
1 Tsp garam masala
2 cup’s basmati rice soaked for 30 minute
4 Cup water
Salt to taste
Fresh mint and cilantro leave
Fried onion’s for garnish
For the Raita :
1 Cup plain yogurt
1/4 Cup finely chopped onion
1/4 Cup finely chopped tomato
1/4 Cup finely chopped cucumber
1/2 Tsp roasted cumin powder
Salt to taste
Pinch of black pepper
Step by Step Chicken Biryani Instruction :
Prepare the Biryani :
Heat ghee or oil in a large pot. Add slice onion’s and cook until golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute. Add the chicken piece’s and cook until they are lightly browned.
Add spice :
In a bowl whisk the yogurt with red Chili 🌶 powder turmeric garam masala and salt. Pour this mixture over the chicken and stir to coat. Cook on low heat for 10 to 15 minute until the chicken is tender.
Add rice :
Drain the soaks basmati rice and add it to the pot with the chicken. Gently mix. Pour in 4 Cup’s of water add fresh mint and cilantro leave and bring to a boil.
Cook the rice :
Reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot tightly. Let it simmer for 15 to 20 minute. Cook until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked. Do not stir during this time. Once Cooke let it rest for 5 minute before fluffing with a fork.
Prepare the Raita :
While the Biryani is Cooking prepare the raita. In a bowling whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add the chopped onion tomato and cucumber’s. Sprinkle with roast cumin powder salt and black pepper. Mixed well.
Serve :
Garnish the Biryani with fried onion’s and serve hot with the Cool raita on the side.
